Dorms

  • What items do campers need to bring for the dorms?
    • Twin size bed linens
    • Towels
    • Toiletries
    • Shower shoes
    • Any snacks needed. There are vending machines available.
  • What are the bathroom/shower facilities like?
    • Each dorm room has its own private bathroom and shower.
  • Are there washing machines and dryers available in the dorms?
    • Yes. In the event that a camper needs to wash clothes, there are laundry facilities in the dorms.
  • Are there TV’s and internet in the dorms?
    • TV’s are not provided, but cable is available if a camper brings their own TV. The campus is equipped with wifi internet.
  • How many campers will there be in each dorm room?
    • Each dorm room houses 2 campers. You will be allowed to choose your roommate on the registration form. If you don’t know who you would like to room with, a roommate will be assigned for you. Any roommate changes will be made on the first night of camp.
  • Are campers allowed to visit other camper’s rooms?
    • There will be times where campers are allowed to visit with other campers. Male and female campers are housed in separate dorms. At no time will male campers be allowed in the female dorm or vice-versa.

 

  • What do I need to wear to camp?
    • Wear clothes for hot weather and comfortable walking shoes. Most activities will be indoors, but we will be traveling from one building to another. You will be provided with a camp shirt to wear on the final concert.
  • How secure will campers be during the week of camp?
    • Campers will be supervised by camp staff at all times. They are not allowed anywhere on campus without a staff member. The Hinds Community College Police Department will be supervising the campus 24/7 as well.
  • Where will campers dine?
    • All campers and staff will eat meals in the Hinds Cafeteria. There are various meal stations available, including home cooking, pizza, sandwich bar, and salad bar. One meal will be an outdoor picnic/pizza party.

 

  • What will auditions consist of?
    • 2 major scales: Concert F & Bb, a prepared piece, and sight-reading
  • Will there be a performance?
    • Yes. All campers will perform in the finale concert on the last day of camp. All family and friends are invited to attend.
  • Are visitors allowed?
    • Parents are welcomed to visit campers at certain times. At no time should a camper leave with a parent unless they are checked out with a staff member.
  • What do the nightly activities involve?
    • Movie night, a dance, and a pizza party picnic/water slides.
